Mel Blackaby

Senior Pastor, First Baptist Church, Jonesboro, Ga.
Mel Blackaby serves as senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, Ga. He has several published books on the church and is heavily involved in missions and church planting, but finds his greatest joy in serving as the pastor of a local church. He and his wife, Gina, have three children who are all pursuing a life of ministry.

Gordon Fort

Senior Ambassador for the President, International Mission Board, Richmond, Va.
Gordon Fort serves as senior ambassador for the president of the International Mission Board (IMB). Fort grew up in Zimbabwe as one of five boys born to medical doctor missionary parents. Fort and his wife, Leigh Ann, have served in a variety of roles with the IMB since their appointment in 1985. The Forts have four children and three grandchildren.

J. Chris Schofield

Director, Office of Prayer, Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Cary, N.C.
J. Chris Schofield serves as director of the Office of Prayer with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. Prior to coming to North Carolina, Schofield served with the North American Mission Board as manager of the prayer evangelism unit from 1997 to 2004. Chris and his wife, Tamee, live in Wake Forest and have four daughters, two sons-in-law and four grandchildren.

Doug Carver

Executive Director of Chaplaincy, North American Mission Board
Chaplain (Major General) Doug Carver, U.S. Army, retired, is the executive director of chaplaincy for the Southern Baptist Convention’s North American Mission Board. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, a master’s degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, as well as from the United States Army War College. Chaplain Carver has pastored churches in Colorado, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Virginia. He and his wife, Sunny, reside in Charlotte, North Carolina near their two daughters and four grandchildren.

Lamont Hemminger

Senior Pastor, First Baptist Church, Tarboro, N.C.
Lamont Hemminger serves as senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Tarboro. Lamont believes that prayer is the key to church and personal renewal. He received a bachelor’s degree from University of Mount Olive and a master’s from Duke Divinity. Lamont and his wife, Alicia, have two grown daughters.

Simon Touprong

Pastor, New Hope Vietnamese Church, Raleigh, N.C.
Simon Touprong serves as pastor of Vietnamese New Hope Baptist Church and as a member of the BSCNC Prayer Initiative Team. Simon received worship and biblical training and from Liberty University, and studied theology at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. Simon and his wife, Anh, live in North Raleigh with their two sons and one daughter.
