Workshop 1: “Scripture Interpretation in ASL” by Dr. Mary J. High
This 5-hour workshop is designed to help interpreters in ministry settings as they interpret Scripture in American Sign Language (ASL).
Level: Intermediate
Type: Professional Studies with .5 CEU’s.
Workshop 2: “Music Interpretation in ASL” by Sally Jane Dixon
This is a 5-hour workshop designed to help ASL interpreters understand the importance of meaning in song lyrics and how to convey that meaning into ASL.
Level: Intermediate
Type: Professional Studies with .5 CEU’s.
Costs
Cost is based on two parts.
- Training program
- $70 per person for both workshops
- $40 per person for one workshop
- Room and board at Caraway
- Full weekend: $240 for single occupancy
- Full weekend: $210 for double occupancy
- One night: $120 for single occupancy
- One night: $105 double occupancy
The first workshop begins on Friday, May 5 after supper. You can arrive at 3:30 p.m. to get your room key. Supper begins at 5:30 p.m.
The last workshop will end on Saturday evening. If you plan to stay the full weekend and participate in the worship service on Sunday morning, the weekend concludes after lunch.
Schedule
Friday May 5
3:30pm: Arrive for Friday’s ITP session. Check-in, get room key, meal ticket, and schedule
5:30pm: Dinner in the Dining Hall
6:00pm – 9:00pm: Begin Workshop #1-“Interpreting Scripture in ASL”. This will be taught by May High.
9:00pm: Join group in Dining Hall for fellowship and snacks
Saturday May 6
7:30am – 8:30am: Breakfast in the Dining Hall.
8:30am – 10:30am: Conclusion of Workshop #1 – “Interpreting Scripture in ASL”
10:45am: Pictures with TIC group. Behind Hollifield Hall
11:00pm – 12:00pm: Begin Workshop #2 “Interpreting Music in ASL” This will be taught by Sally Dixon.
12:00 – 1:00pm: Lunch in the Dining Hall
1:00pm – 5:00pm: Continue Workshop #2 – “Interpreting Music in ASL”
If you choose to stay through Sunday, you will need to pay for 2 nights lodging and meals.

8:00 – 9:00: Breakfast in the Dining Hall
9:00 – 9:45: Sunday School
10:00 – 10:15: Youth Drama in Hollifield Hall
10:15 – 11:45: Worship with Pastor Sam Wood in Hollifield Hall
12:00: Lunch in the Dining Hall
