March 25 – What is Family Discipleship?
Guests Adam Griffin and Daniel Dye kick off the series by addressing big-picture questions around family discipleship. Drawing upon concepts from the book āFamily Discipleshipā that Griffin co-authored with Matt Chandler, attendees will explore the importance of time, moments, milestones and modeling in the home. Griffin pastors in Texas, and Dye serves as lead pastor of Peninsula Baptist Church in Mooresville.
April 29 – Shifting Into Family Ministry & Growing Your Family Ministry
Guests Ron Hunter and Jason Gaston will share how pastors and ministry leaders can implement a comprehensive approach to family ministry in their church and how to make family ministry more impactful. Hunter leads D6 Family Ministry, and Gaston serves as a pastor on the Senior Leadership Team at Biltmore Church in Asheville, N.C.
May 13 – Strengths-Based Parenting: A New Approach to Discipling Teens
Guests Tom Howe and Merrie Johnson will share how family ministry leaders can equip parents to have deeper discipleship conversations with their teens. They will share a unique perspective that focuses on identifying and understanding a teenās unique talents. Howe is a pastor and leadership coach, and Johnson serves as the Baptist State Convention of North Carolinaās youth ministry consultant.
Adam Griffin
Lead Pastor, Eastside Community Church, Dallas, Texas
Adam Griffin serves as lead pastor of Eastside Community Church in Dallas, Texas. He is passionate about family discipleship and has also served as a student minister and public school teacher. Adam holds several degrees in the areas of education, theology and leadership, as well as a certificate in youth and family ministry. In 2020, Adam released āFamily Discipleship,ā a book he co-authored with Matt Chandler, who serves as lead pastor of The Village Church near Dallas, Texas. Adam and his wife, Chelsea, have three sons.
Jason Gaston
Senior Leadership Team, Biltmore Church, Asheville, N.C.
Jason Gaston serves as a pastor on the Senior Leadership Team at Biltmore Church in Asheville, N.C. His vocational calling is to partner with families to raise the next generation to love Christ and His mission. Jasonās desire is that the name of Jesus would be exalted, starting in the hallways of our homes and reaching the unreached in the furthest corners of our world. Jason and his wife, Katie, have three children.
Daniel Dye
Lead Pastor, Peninsula Baptist Church, Mooresville, N.C.
Daniel Dye has servedĀ as lead pastor at Peninsula Baptist Church in Mooresville for 26 years. Peninsula seeks to live biblical truth, build solid homes, and impact their community and world for Christ. The church supports families in their faith journey by equipping and providing resources that help them to focus on Christ in their daily life. Daniel and his wife, Kimberly, have three daughters.
Tom Howe
Executive Director/Founder, Unleashed by Design
Tom Howe is the executive director and founder of Unleashed by Design, a non-profit ministry to churches and pastoral leadership. As a leadership and discipleship coach, he works with ministries throughout North Carolina. Tom is a certified StrengthsFinder coach with the Gallup Organization. He is also a pastor at Church in the Triad and has served on pastoral staffs at other churches and as a local missionary. Prior to vocational ministry, Tom worked in professional baseball as general manager of the Greensboro Grasshoppers. He and his wife, Kami, have two teenage sons.
Ron Hunter
Executive Director & CEO, Randall House and D6 Family Ministry, Nashville, Tenn.
Ron Hunter serves as executive director and CEO of Randall House publishers and D6 Family Ministry. He has authored or co-authored three books, including āThe DNA of D6: Building Blocks of Generational Discipleship.ā Ron holds a doctorate in leadership from Dallas Baptist University and has also served in pastoral ministry. His favorite titles are husband and father.
Merrie Johnson
Senior Consultant, Youth Evangelism and Discipleship, Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Cary, N.C.
Merrie has servedĀ in youth ministry for more than 30 years. She joined the staff of the Baptist state convention in 2001 and currently serves as senior consultant for youth evangelism and discipleship. In her role with the state convention, Merrie coordinates eight weeks of youth camp each summer that draws more than 1,000 attendees each year. She also conducts retreats and trainings for youth pastors, leaders and workers. Merrie has two adult sons.
