Praying on the Mountain is a call to prayer for spiritual awakening that God began in the heart of the Rev. Fred Lunsford, a 95-year-old World War II hero. What began as a call for 100 pastors to gather and pray on top of a mountain on May 5 of this year has now become a movement for 1 million believers to unite and ask God for revival in America and beyond.

May 5: A Glorious Day of Prayer
While Lunsford originally called for 100 pastors to join him on the mountain and pray, God raised up double the amount. However, the large gathering was prevented due to COVID-19 restrictions. God then gave Lunsford and these 200 pastors a new vision to ask 100,000 believers to pray from their homes. God again intervened — and over 265,000 believers pledged to pray for spiritual awakening.

A local radio station broadcast live from the mountain as Lunsford and a few local leaders prayed for revival. Later that day, Ronnie Floyd, CEO and president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s executive committee, hosted a live online prayer gathering with Lunsford, Greg Mathis, David Horton, Don Wilton and other key figures behind the movement.

A Significant Movement

Biblically and historically, God has always preceded and permeated revivals with earnest and united prayer. Click here to learn why J. Chris Schofield believes Praying on the Mountain’s call to prayer is significant and may be the beginning of another spiritual awakening.
