Cris Alley serves as the team leader for the Strategic Focus Team. He has also served as a pastor, missionary and church planter.

Cris began his pastoral ministry as senior pastor of West Canton Baptist Church in Canton. Cris and his family also served for nearly nine years with the International Mission Board in East Asia, and have served for four years as church planters in Hickory. Just prior to joining the convention, Cris served as minister of adults at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Conover.

He earned his master’s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and his doctorate from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest. Cris and his wife, Dena, married in 1991. They have two children, Joshua and Rachel, and a daughter-in-law.

Cris is passionate about God’s mission to the nations. He considers it a privilege and honor to join North Carolina Baptists in the work of enabling churches, networks and individuals to, “Declare His glory among the nations, His wonderful works among all peoples” (Psalm 96:3, HCSB).
