One of the greatest things we can do as parents, spouses and Christ followers is to pray for our families. Psalms 127:1a says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” Below are some specific prayer points with accompanying Bible verses that you can pray over your children, your spouse, their relationships and much more.
Pray for your child’s relationship with God.
— May my child know how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.— Ephesians 3:17-19
Pray for godly attributes and character in your child.
— May my child display the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. — Galatians 5:22-23
Pray for family relationships.
— May my child see my life as a godly example that creates a desire within him/her to belong to the family of God. — Psalms 37:4-6
Pray for relationships with friends.
— May my child be firm in convictions and be able to withstand peer pressure. — Ephesians 4:14-16
Pray for protection.
— May my child not be led astray from the truth by deceitful philosophies. — Colossians 2:8
A parent’s prayer (pray for yourself as a parent).
— May I diligently and consistently teach my child the ways of the Lord. — Deuteronomy 6:4-9
A husband’s prayer (pray for yourself as a husband).
— May my children always see me demonstrate gentleness to my wife. — 1 Peter 3:7
A wife’s prayer (pray for yourself as a wife).
— May I love and respect my husband and work diligently to care for our home. — Ephesians 5:33, Titus 2:4-5
