Serving others in Jesus’ name takes on many forms, especially when it comes to a crisis like the war in Ukraine. Two days after Russia invaded Ukraine, N.C. Baptists began working to meet the needs of people escaping conflict. We have sent teams to Poland to support relief projects there and have also worked with our longtime partner, Hungarian Baptist Aid, to assist their efforts.
N.C. Baptist volunteers have welcomed Ukrainian refugees crossing into Hungary and worked in warehouses that collect much-needed supplies. We’ve also sent medical teams into Ukraine to care for other displaced people.
It’s not only a piece of bread. It’s not only a mat to sleep on. It’s not only a van that will transport them to their (hopefully) new home. We are doing it because the love of Jesus Christ urges us to do it.

These efforts are only some of the many ways your gifts to the North Carolina Missions Offering help N.C. Baptists be the hands and feet of Jesus to a hurting world.

In addition to serving in Poland, Hungary and Ukraine, Moldovan Baptists have asked N.C. Baptists to help with their camp, which houses up to 300 Ukrainian refugees. Volunteers have worked in the kitchen, provided children’s ministry, and assisted with laundry and cleaning.
N.C. Baptists’ work in Ukraine will continue after the war is over, as we rebuild churches and community centers.
