Chris Overman was born in Raleigh and grew up in southeastern North Carolina. Growing up in a ministry-centered home shaped his sense of calling from a young age.

Overman graduated from Word of Life Bible Institute with a Bible degree, then earned a degree in telecommunication from Liberty University. He taught high school for two years before joining Trans World Radio full-time in Bonaire. He then returned to the U.S. to serve with TWR in Cary. Through various roles with TWR, Chris partnered with teams and colleagues across Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America. He has also served local churches through missions, youth ministry and preaching.

Chris and his wife, Dawn, have been married since 2000. They have two children.
