  • A church in friendly cooperation must have a faith and practice that closely identifies with Baptist beliefs and distinctives.
  • Among churches not in friendly cooperation are those which affirm LGBTQ+ lifestyles, affirm discriminatory behavior on the basis of race or ethnicity, or affirm behavior inconsistent with biblical teachings regarding sexual abuse.

Missions Giving FAQ

How does the Cooperative Program (CP) work?

When a local church gives a percentage of its regular tithes and offerings to the state convention, those funds are pooled together. This allows us to support a broad network of missions and ministries, from local church planting to international missions and seminaries.

Is a “Designated Offering” the same as CP giving?

No. While both are vital and cooperative, they serve different purposes. The CP funds general mission and ministry of N.C. Baptists and partners like the IMB, NAMB and SBC seminaries. Designated offerings fund specifically named causes (e.g., Lottie Moon, Annie Armstrong or State Missions). These stay with that specific fund.
