Fill the Tank Sunday is a day for churches to celebrate baptisms and lives transformed by the gospel.

On Sunday, April 27, N.C. Baptists are joining churches across the state — and the country — to celebrate new life in Christ through baptism. The Fill the Tank Baptism initiative, which coincides with Baptism Sunday, encourages believers to take a step of obedience by getting baptized.

Churches act in faith by boldly proclaiming the gospel and then inviting new believers to respond through their first step in following Jesus. Last year, N.C. Baptists celebrated as about 900 individuals publicly professed their faith in Christ as part of the Fill the Tank emphasis.

As you prepare to celebrate baptisms in your church, here are a few things to pray for.

  1. Pray for open hearts — that people would be receptive to the gospel. (Luke 8:5-12)
  2. Pray for boldness — that believers would share the gospel clearly and confidently. (Acts 4:29-31)
  3. Pray for gospel response — that many would hear the truth and respond in faith and obedience. (Acts 2:37-41)
  4. Pray for obedience in baptism — that those who already trust Jesus would take the next step. (Romans 6:1-4)
  5. Pray for ongoing fruit — that God would use Fill the Tank as a catalyst for more people to come to faith in the days ahead. (Acts 2:41)
