N.C. Baptists are on mission together to bring relief and hope when disaster strikes. As western North Carolina grapples with devastating damage from Hurricane Helene, here are three things you and your church can do to respond.
On Thursday, Sept. 26, Hurricane Helene made landfall along the Florida Gulf Coast as a Category 4 storm, with sustained winds of 140 mph and wind gusts even higher. As the storm moved quickly northward, Helene brought damaging winds across Georgia, the Carolinas and Tennessee along with unprecedented rainfall and flooding on Friday (Sept. 27), even while weakening to a tropical storm.
The result was significant damage and devastation across western North Carolina and beyond. The storm washed out roads, knocked out power and crippled phone service throughout western North Carolina, limiting access to those in need.
Already, N.C. Baptists on Mission disaster response volunteers are partnering with churches to respond to the crisis. But even as volunteers work quickly to meet needs in Jesus’ name, more help will be needed in the days and weeks to come.
Here are three ways you can help support disaster response efforts.
1. Pray.
We are people of prayer. As disaster recovery efforts continue for the foreseeable future, N.C. Baptists seek to join together in prayer for all those who have been affected by the storm. Visit ncbaptist.org/helene to read specific prayer requests from those who have been impacted.
If you have been affected by Hurricane Helene and have any prayer requests, we are here for you. Share your prayer requests using this form here.
2. Give.
Gifts to the North Carolina Missions Offering support Baptists on Mission disaster response efforts all year long. Visit GiveNCMO.org to learn more and give today.

3. Go.
There will be needs for a long time to come. Volunteers are needed to go, not only now but also for the foreseeable future. Sign up here to be added to a volunteer list with Baptists on Mission disaster response.
