J.D. Greear, president of the Southern Baptist Convention and pastor of the Summit Church in Raleigh-Durham, encouraged individuals to pray for those who will be impacted by Hurricane Florence and support Southern Baptist disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of the storm.

“This is a real place that we as the body of Christ can serve our community and put on display the generosity of Christ,” Greear said in a video released Wednesday, Sept. 12. “We can show that we have a message of love, not just in what Jesus did in dying for our sins, but that He came to rescue and save, and we can put that on display.

“Now is the time for you to get engaged and get involved, and I hope that you will do that.”

There are many ways you can get involved through Baptists on Mission/N.C. Baptist Men (NCBM), which coordinates the disaster relief ministry for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. Ways to get involved include:

  1. Praying for those who will be affected by Hurricane Florence.
  2. Making a donation through the Baptists on Mission website.
  3. Getting involved in ongoing disaster relief efforts by registering to volunteer.

NCBM provides the opportunity for North Carolina Baptists to come together and be the hands and feet of Jesus. If you would like to receive updates about NCBM’s response to Hurricane Florence, you may sign up to receive email updates
