Missionaries go, and senders “hold the rope” through prayer, care, and support. Join with fellow N.C. Baptists and pray throughout 2026 for our missionaries serving around the globe.

As 2026 approaches, N.C. Baptists are introducing a renewed focus on strengthening missions involvement across the state. Through Missions Engagement — a new initiative created to help churches strategize, mobilize, care and connect — congregations of every size can discover practical next steps in living out the Great Commission. This statewide effort is rooted in a shared belief that every missionary, wherever they serve, should experience steady, Christlike support from the churches that send them.

That is why, in 2026, we are committed to connecting every N.C. Baptist church with a missionary, and every missionary with a church. One of the primary ways we will do this is through Praying for Missionaries, a statewide initiative inviting individuals and churches to pray faithfully for those serving on the frontlines of gospel ministry around the world.

Through PrayNC.org and the N.C. Baptist mobile app, you can join thousands of believers across our state in praying daily and weekly for missionaries. When you sign up, you’ll receive weekly text prayer prompts, optional push notifications and a monthly email featuring four missionary units to pray for throughout the month. These simple tools will help you cultivate a consistent rhythm of interceding for the nations God is reaching through our collective mission.

This effort reflects a long-standing truth recognized by generations of senders and goers. When William Carey prepared to leave for India in 1793, he famously told his friend Andrew Fuller, “I will go down into the pit, if you will hold the rope.”

Missionaries go, but senders hold the rope through prayer, care and support. In 2026, every N.C. Baptist can take up that rope with confidence and joy.

Your prayers matter more than you think. Faithful intercession strengthens missionaries in ways unseen, helping them persevere when challenges are heavy and resources are thin. Your prayers can open doors for the gospel in places that have remained spiritually dark for generations. They bring protection, unity and provision for teams serving in difficult contexts. And they breathe fresh encouragement into the hearts of workers and their families, reminding them they do not labor alone.

Getting involved is simple.

For individuals and families: Sign up at PrayNC.org to receive weekly text prayer prompts and begin interceding throughout 2026. (Note: To receive push notifications from the N.C. Baptist mobile app, make sure to turn on notifications in your settings. Tap the profile icon in the top right, then select “Notifications” and toggle on the “Praying for Missionaries” option.)

For churches: Promote this opportunity on Sunday mornings, in small groups or through your church newsletter. Congregations can also download ready-to-use promotional materials including social media graphics, slides and web banners.

Everything you need to participate is available on the N.C. Baptist website and mobile app. By turning on push notifications, you can receive timely reminders to pray throughout the year, keeping missionaries close to your heart and mind every day.

Imagine what God might do when thousands of believers across North Carolina consistently pray for workers serving among the nations. Encourage missionaries with the knowledge that churches across their home state are interceding for them by name, and disciple members in your church to develop hearts more fully aligned with the mission of God.
