N.C. Baptists have launched a new job board website to connect churches with qualified candidates seeking to fill ministry positions in North Carolina.

The website, powered by the job board hosting platform JobBoard HQ, allows potential pastors and other ministry leaders to search and apply for ministry employment opportunities in N.C. Baptist churches across the state. The website also gives churches the ability to post openings, gather resumes, track applications and more, enabling churches to create an application pool to hire the best candidate for their position.

“We are always looking for ways to address the pressing needs of churches and pastors,” said Brian Upshaw, associate executive director-treasurer and director of the Ministry Strategies group for N.C. Baptists. “With this platform, we hope to address the need for a reliable and user-friendly minister search engine that helps N.C. Baptist churches and would-be pastors connect.”

Thanks to the generosity of N.C. Baptists, job postings are provided at no cost as a service to partnering N.C. Baptist churches. Applications to job openings are likewise available to ministers at no cost.

Churches and ministry leaders can begin connecting by visiting jobboard.ncbaptist.org. After creating an account and profile, a church may create a job posting with a description and screening questions for potential applicants. A church may also use the platform to direct potential applicants to the church’s website and/or email for application purposes. Each church has the ability to close or pause job postings at will as they gather candidates.

Ministers seeking job opportunities also have the option of creating an account, which allows applicants to search and save jobs, create job alerts, track application history, upload resumes and build resumes using an easy resume builder.

According to Upshaw, the N.C. Baptist Job Board is a new, key way N.C. Baptists can partner in the mission as churches find qualified candidates to join them in their ministry.

“With a user-friendly interface and a proven track record with other state conventions, we believe JobBoard HQ will be an amazing partnership to enhance the search experience for churches and ministers,” Upshaw said.

NOTE: Applications are open to anyone, and applicants responding to a posting are not officially certified or approved by the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (BSCNC). Each N.C. Baptist church is locally autonomous; therefore, the BSCNC and its staff are in no way involved in the selection of pastors and church ministry leaders.

Local churches or cooperating organizations determine for themselves the acceptability of their own chosen ministers and leaders and are solely responsible to confirm information supplied to them by applicants through interviews, background checks or other processes. Churches seeking resumes through this system assume the responsibility of properly vetting applicants and performing their own background checks.
