ServeNC Week is a statewide movement empowering local churches to care for their neighborhoods through practical service projects. Because nobody understands your community better than your own congregation, you are uniquely positioned to make a difference. Explore these ideas and ministry partnerships to help your church plan for ServeNC.
This Aug. 1-8, show your community that your local church cares and shows up.
ServeNC Week invites every North Carolina Baptist church to step into their community and serve in practical ways to meet tangible needs. Every summer, thousands across the state act as the hands and feet of Christ, displaying his love to their neighbors.
If your church didn’t exist, would your community notice? ServeNC Week helps answer that question.
Your local church knows your local community and its unique needs. Before you choose a project, ask yourselves: What are the particular needs we see? Where do we already have relationships? What breaks the heart of Jesus in our zip code?
Maybe it’s a school that’s been neglected or elderly neighbors living alone. Maybe it’s families in crisis or students without resources. Your church has the context and relational proximity to address these needs.
Opportunities to minister across North Carolina
N.C. Baptists partner with ministries across our state ready to mobilize churches like yours.
Serving the elderly Baptist Aging Ministries helps seniors maintain independence. Projects include wheelchair ramp construction, smoke alarm installation, handrail repair, porch restoration and yard work. This is gospel work, showing dignity and care to those who’ve invested in our faith.
Supporting children and families Baptist Children’s Homes cares for vulnerable children and families statewide. Opportunities include baseball field cleanup at Kennedy Home, landscaping projects, power washing, construction work and donation organization. Your service directly impacts children in crisis.
Community ministry ESL classes, park cleanups, school painting, back-to-school gift baskets for teachers and roadside restoration all demonstrate that faith works. These projects build bridges between your church and neighbors.
Meeting economic needs Assemble hygiene kits for shelters, deliver meals to those experiencing homelessness, volunteer at food banks, or start a community garden. Your church’s compassion can open doors to gospel conversations.
Healthcare outreach Host community health fairs, provide blood pressure checks, dental screenings, and vision checks. Your church can be healing hands in your community.
Hurricane recovery Response efforts continue across Western North Carolina. Rebuild sites in Rose Hill, New Bern and Lumberton need skilled and unskilled volunteers. Help families return to safe homes.
Supporting crisis pregnancies The Pregnancy Network serves women facing unplanned pregnancies. Serve through cleaning, hospitality, administration, fundraising events, baby showers and diaper drives. Your compassion saves lives.
