Todd Unzicker, executive director-treasurer of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, recently joined Michael Blackwell, president and CEO of the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina (BCH), and Keith Henry, BCH chief operating officer, for a conversation about the Every Child foster care and adoption ministry.

Every Child is a partnership between both organizations that is rooted in a shared vision to serve and care for the thousands of children in North Carolina’s foster care system.

This is the second of two episodes. Listen to the first part here.

Here is an excerpt from this podcast:

Unzicker: “We couldn’t do this as a movement of churches on mission together without the expertise, the resources and training .

“This doesn’t matter if your church has 20 people or 20,000 people. This is an initiative that every single North Carolina Baptist can get behind in partnership with the Baptist Children’s Homes.”

Henry: “Since we started this, we’ve licensed almost 400 homes, and at any point in time we’ll have over 200 homes going. Now what happens is a family will be licensed, they’ll foster a few, and sometimes they’ll adopt. So they’re off the fostering circuit, but that’s great. They’ve given a child a permanent, loving home. So our challenge is we’ve got to renew the supply. We’ve got to constantly be looking to new families.”
