Surrounded by a growing Hispanic community, Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville has looked for strategic ways to engage their Spanish-speaking neighbors with the gospel. Thanks to gifts to the NCMO, this community is now being reached through a new church plant — Faith en Español.

Located just north of Raleigh, Youngsville is a small town that has grown rapidly over the past several years.

As the neighborhoods around them have grown, Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville has noticed a pressing need to reach a new population with the gospel — Youngsville’s Spanish-speaking community.

“There (has been) a commitment from the very beginning that the people of Faith Baptist would be a place where all could come and hear the gospel,” said Steven Wade, pastor of Faith Baptist. “When we found that there is a significant Spanish-speaking population, we began to think about how could we reach them.”

What began as a vision to reach the Spanish-speaking community soon became a successful ministry. Then, after bringing on board Pastor Lenin Almonte, Faith Baptist set out to plant a church ministering directly to the Spanish-speaking population. After partnering with SendNC, Faith Baptist sent Almonte to become the pastor of a new congregation — Faith en Español.

Supported by gifts to the North Carolina Missions Offering (NCMO), SendNC equipped this new church to launch within the Youngsville community by providing assessment, training and vital resources. Faith en Español is now ministering directly to Spanish-speaking residents in Youngsville, thanks to the support of SendNC and gifts to the NCMO.

“From the very beginning we have had the support of N.C. Baptists to do this,” Almonte said. “It’s because of that generosity in giving for offerings like our Missions Offering here in North Carolina. It’s because of your generosity that we continue reaching Spanish people.”
