Literacy missions equips churches to impact lostness through reading, writing, and language education ministries in their communities.
Churches can engage others with the gospel by meeting real literacy education needs in their community. Following are some of the primary ways churches can be involved.
Ministry Avenues
- English as a Second Language – Did you know that more than 150 unreached people groups call North Carolina home? The Lord has brought the nations to North Carolina, and ESL classes are an excellent way to serve our international friends and neighbors and engage them with the gospel.
- Tutoring Children and Youth (TCY) – Both international and American students across the state are in need of tutors to help them succeed in English literacy. Churches involved in tutoring children and youth have a unique opportunity to shape the lives of the next generation with the gospel.
- Adult Reading and Writing (ARW) – Did you know that as many as 1 in 7 adults in North Carolina is illiterate? Churches have a unique opportunity to change lives through general literacy and the good news of Christ.
