NCMO provides for vital health screening ministry

Your gifts to the North Carolina Missions Offering (NCMO) provide for vital health screenings to underserved individuals which, in turn, opens the door for gospel proclamation across North Carolina.

This ministry, operated by Baptists on Mission, provides care and a way for healthcare professionals to utilize their skills for people who have limited access to routine health screenings.

A fleet of mobile medical, dental and health screening units offer free health services to underserved patients.

Even in the midst of dire circumstances, such as a worldwide pandemic, God has filled our hearts with a joy that must be carried forth in love and ministry to others. As followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, we should be first in line to provide love and hope through the gospel.

This health screening ministry allows us to step into someone’s life and point them to Christ and His sacrifice.

“It is truly a gift to be able to care for and minister to hurting people with no expectation of anything in return” — Crystal Horton

“Jesus first identifies the physical need that they are suffering with, and then, He’s able to reach them spiritually because He’s demonstrated His compassion toward them,” says Robert Stewart, medical director for Baptists on Mission. “That’s what we’re able to do through this health ministry.”

As medical costs continue to skyrocket and rural areas continue to run into healthcare provider shortages, more and more North Carolinians are left with limited means for treating their medical and dental issues.

Recent reports show 20 North Carolina counties have relatively few primary care doctors — three have none.

“We want to love people the way Jesus loves people, and see them through His eyes instead of our eyes. It is truly a gift to be able to care for and minister to hurting people with no expectation of anything in return” said Crystal Horton, health screening coordinator for Baptists on Mission. “It’s a really good way to minister to people that otherwise you wouldn’t have been able to reach.”

Providing relief for today and hope for tomorrow is what the medical, dental and health screening ministries do faithfully every year.

The fleet of mobile units is staffed by volunteer medical and dental professionals. All patients who receive treatment also hear the good news of Jesus Christ from pastors and volunteers who provide care.
