This month’s resources feature a brand new training curriculum to equip churches to respond well when sexual, physical or emotional abuse is reported, in addition to a resource that helps churches and ministry leaders protect children. Also included is a simple guide for anyone who wants to study the Bible for themselves and a brand new online training module for Sunday School and Small Groups. Finally, we are offering a step-by-step video on how to share the gospel using the 3 Circles tool.

Every month, we spotlight five helpful resources for you as you seek to walk closely with the Lord and make disciples. Many of these resources are created by the staff of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (BSCNC) to help meet the ministry needs of pastors and lay leaders across the state.

New! Becoming a Church that Cares Well for the Abused
Every church must be equipped to respond well in the initial stages of learning about instances of sexual, physical or emotional abuse. Becoming a Church that Cares Well for the Abused is a training curriculum developed by the Southern Baptist Convention’s Sexual Abuse Advisory Group and the SBC’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission in partnership with LifeWay Christian Resources. This resource brings together top experts from various fields to help leaders understand and implement the best practices for handling a variety of abuse scenarios at church, school or ministry. The curriculum includes a handbook, introductory video and 12 video lessons. The most comprehensive training takes place when the handbook and videos are used together.
