Join the NC Baptist Singers & Orchestra

This is a group of dedicated, committed trained musicians from Baptist churches all across the state of North Carolina. With a rich 35+ year history of excellence in worship concerts, mission tours, annual retreats and sharing, participants are expected to give nothing less than their best to this ministry. Striving for that spirit of excellence will require individual rehearsal, memorization of selected anthems, and faithful attendance at scheduled events. If you want to join this group, be sure to read the membership guidelines.

Registration for new members for the 2026-27 season is open May 11 – June 16.

Apply

Thank you for your interest in the N.C. Baptist Singers and Orchestra!

Due to limited space in host churches, NCBSO spots are limited. The number of new admissions this year will depend on how many current members continue.

Applications accepted May 12-June 16. Applicants will be notified by June 20.

All members must be affiliated with a partnering N.C. Baptist church.

Priority for membership will be given to (1) the primary worship leader (worship pastor, minister of music, etc.), (2) other paid worship staff, (3) denominational/college/seminary leaders, then (4) other participants in worship ministries of N.C. Baptist churches. All applicants will submit an audition MP3, a written testimony and a recommendation from the candidate’s church primary worship leader (see form below).

If space is limited, admissions may depend on what parts are needed to fill out the choir and orchestra, and audition/recommendation results. An applicant’s registration date may also influence decisions. The date a prospect completes their application materials will be noted.

Note: Orchestra members may also sing with the choir when they are not playing. You can choose to be an orchestra member, choir member or both.

Interested individuals must first read and agree to all membership guidelines (all four pages).

Before submitting your application, please prepare the following items:

  1. Read all four pages of the guidelines. You must agree to the guidelines to be a member of the NCBSO. You can download a copy by clicking the button above.
  2. If you are NOT the primary worship leader on staff at your church, you must ask him/her to complete a recommendation form. You can have this done before submissions open on May 13. Send this link to them and ask them to fill it out ASAP: lamm.fyi/recommend.
  3. If you want to be a singing member, record yourself singing “Amazing Grace,” and have an MP3 ready to upload. You can sing the melody in a key good for your voice, sing your voice part (if not soprano), or both.
  4. If you want to play in the orchestra, you will need to record yourself playing your instrument (a familiar part or solo) and have an MP3 ready to upload.
  5. If you want to sing and play in the orchestra, you should do a vocal AND instrumental recording and upload both files.
  6. Prepare a written testimony that includes your sense of calling to be involved in worship ministry, and upload it as a PDF.
  7. You need a headshot to upload with your application.

Before you submit your application, have your audition MP3s, written testimony (PDF file) and your headshot ready to upload.

Click here to submit your application for membership for the 2025-26 season.

Once we receive your recommendation and completed application, our team will meet and get back to you by June 20.
